NEW ALBUM REVIEW
Upon first listen, I prepared by tweaking the speakers to give me that sonic boost of a normal "cutting edged P Funk production", ok ready set go...." heeeey, wha'zzzhhappenin', what is this S#it!!!...". I cursed for a few hours afterwards. i was sure I hated it, but something strange happened...

All the way to a friends house, I debated in my head on whether I should even mention that George Clinton and the Pfunk had a new album released, seeing that I bragged about them all the time. but this time, "it would just be embarrassing" I thought.
Some time passed and while at my buddy's house a normal party atmosphere. 420 session, video games and some hot chicks but the music that was playing there ceased to exist. So, I approached his computer and in my jacket pocket I had a copy so I figured I would play it and not mention to anyone what it was.
The music started to play and I was committed to my silence. First song played and I knew it was one that they'd hate. I was sure anyone who heard it would have asked me to change it. Instead, this one cute blond chick lifted her head and asked “ Owww Who is That? ' I replied, "The Gangsters of Love", now I was forced to view this song through “Innocent ears" and as the album played on, more people started to gravitate towards the speakers commenting on how nice the music was. Then it all clicked for me, this is "George Clinton's Gansters of Love" ( or what I'd like to call "The Misfits of Myrrh"). This Project is a collection of recorded song that were cut like George and his high powered Buddies having a Sunday afternoon barbaque while singing the songs that made them smile.
This Cast of Crazyies are all off the chain with the brilliance of El Debarge and Kim Burrell, they really bring it home There are fun moments with Sly Stone, RZA and Carlos Santana as well as performances from P Funk's mainstays, Paul Hill, Belita Woods and Kendra Foster. This is an album NOT by Parliament Funkadelic Album. This is the album of a 68 year old "Dance Floor Master" who's having the time of his life, as he chills with that "been there, done that" attitude. CLINTON is still the Man.
If I had to give it a one line explantion "It’s like a Psychotic Burt Bacarach and his other Friends Album" and George Clinton is a Real SHOWTOONED Writer and Producer.
This album could mess around and get a Grammy (nod at least). You can listen to these songs and almost sing them better at times, but you'll sing as he sings along in that songwriter mode with his high powered friends, pork chops, grits and all.
In my Quest to resent this Album I came to realize what my fight with George Clinton, even "Back in the Day" It turns out that, he has always forced me to raked every Pfunk production over the coals just before I I'd fall in love with his music.....
With GANGSTERS of LOVE we know we wont be getting any mtv classics from it, but VH1 had better prepare airspace over there. It's Grammy Time!!!
To make a short story long, "by the third listen, you'll be in love with this album (.) "
